Sweet dates and crunchy walnuts make this banana bread deliciously different.

The ingredient of Date Walnut And Banana Loaf

  • melted butter to grease
  • 150g 1 cup chopped dried pitted dates
  • 200g 1 cup firmly packed brown sugar
  • 250ml 1 cup water
  • 320g 2 cups wholemeal self raising flour
  • 260g 1 cup mashed ripe banana
  • 55g 1 2 cup chopped walnut halves
  • 1 2 teaspoon bicarbonate of soda

  • preheat oven to 180u00b0c brush a 14 x 21cm loaf pan base measurement with melted butter to grease
  • combine dates sugar and water in a saucepan over low heat cook stirring for 2 minutes or until sugar dissolves increase heat to medium and bring to the boil remove from heat
  • add flour banana walnuts and bicarbonate of soda and stir until combined spoon into prepared pan and smooth surface with the back of the spoon bake in pre heated oven for 40 minutes or until a skewer inserted into the centre comes out clean remove from oven and set aside for 5 minutes to cool before turning onto a wire rack serve warm or at room temperature
